I put the reply below on Rob's site. I ask the same question from your viewpoint:

Actually, I still have no idea what this was all about. What were you asking people to vote for? In one column was a list of names of folks I don’t know. In another column, another list of names. What did I miss (again)? Note when you get to be my age, things need to be carefully and slowly explained for them to sink in and be immediately forgotten.

I think you did this in true Greatsby fashion: wait and make sure you were on the winning team, and then come say hello to everyone. Same way you drive by the party and make sure you like the people who showed up before you go in, right?
