A Smashing Good Time

No, these aren't ink blots.

I'm not a shrink.

This is a oh-so-pretty smashed laptop screen.

Parents, don't leave your work laptop lying on the ground in the middle of the living room where your daughter can come running by and stomp on it.

And kids, don't do drugs.

You know, I thought I saw a blimp somewhere in that design...
yeah yeah, "someone's daughter". i think you got caught up in your Office Space day dream again. Or have you decided to become some hipster artist, smashing laptops for their "inner LCD beauty"? Shame! Although I've had airlines try this same form of art...

Guilty as charged!
I see some leaves. Maybe I'm anticipating the arrival of fall.

And how does that make you feel?
I would cry. Literally bawl.

The worst for me? I spilled coffee on a laptop in college.... Sorry, kinda lame. :(

We've had some good coffee spills, too.

They're just as deadly to a laptop, they just don't leaveintricatesmash designs.

Or shards.
Spills are bad, but could you imagine working in telecom support? "Uh, yeah... I dropped my Blackberry into the toilet. Do you think you could clean it up for me?"
"Sorry, Sir - we don't support TurdBerries."
I dropped my roommates laptop in college. Needless to say, I was poorer than normal that school year.

Things you shouldn't share with your roommate: your laptop.

Hope he learned his lesson.
I had a PC at work that had a hard drive so old and worn out that it sounded like a plane taking off. When I moved desks a couple of years ago, my new neighbor complained to me about the noise and said if I didn't send it in that she would come in with a hammer the next morning and put it down for me.

You got a couple of years out of a failing hard drive?

You're special.
I have 2 PCs on my desk. I'm even more special.

Actually, I think that having the two computers was what helped me. The one that failed was my testing computer, which is generally on standby. For some reason, at 5 PM every night, it did something that caused the noise I mentioned... even shook the desk.
That was me, hacking your stuff.
Before I had a desk, I would put my laptop on a barstool at home. One day, I had to get up quickly, caught my foot on the power cord and the barstool tipped over taking the laptop with it. On impact, it made a Bzzzt! sound and a puff of smoke came out. Fortunately, the company took care of it. Just like they replaced a monitor that I was dumb enough to wash with a wet rag, dripping water into the back of it while it was on. Again, a Bzzzt! sound and a puff of smoke. They also replaced my company car when I totalled it on a deer. I'm quite responsible.

Your company loved you for good reason, Rick.

It's probably because of your wonderful name.
I have never jacked up a computer but I did have a computer jack me up. I had a semester long project get totally deleted and lost on my college computer. Was it user error? I don't know but I blame my computer.

PEBKAC--right, Ricky?
Close. Problem Exists Between Foot and Laptop Lid.
Ah, I see! In other words, this was a case of SEU. ;)
